My father who was an attorney and did his PhD in commercial law at Hamburg University(Hamburg, Germany) passed away because of myocardial infarction at age 42 when I was 1.5 years old. I was raised as a single child in a family who always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. The absence of my father made me learn to fight for what I want, made me self-reliant, and made me stronger.
My childhood dream, perhaps inspired in part by my and my family’s early loss, was to become a doctor in order to help people, realizing an exchange of understanding and sense of joy of living for much of the hardship.
When I decided to become a medical doctor, I knew that my journey would involve much work, struggle and at times pain and I also knew that as Aristotle said “The greatest part of courage is endurance”. During my pregraduate internship, I became fascinated with Obstetrics and Gynecology because there are few specialties that allow us to enjoy the unique combination of primary care with surgery and I also realized that there was nothing more satisfying than delivering a baby to excited parents who had been anxiously waiting for 9 months. So I looked for opportunities to pursue a career in OB/GYN which I thought despite the long hours and incredible responsibility that being an OB/GYN was truly a blessing and a privilege.
I was very lucky to have been accepted to do my residency program in OB/GYN at Semmelweis University Medical School 1st Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Budapest, Hungary) under the direction of Prof Papp Zoltan, a celebrated OB&GYN and a geneticist. Perhaps because of my experiences with Prof Papp Zoltan, I have been most excited by the management of high risk pregnancies, fetal diagnosis, and fetal assessment techniques. He has been always my inspiration.
To grow further, “In continuing my bliss, I decided to receive extensive training as a Clinical Research Fellow in the diagnosis, treatment and management of medical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy as well as fetal assessment techniques. To this end, I received extensive training as a Clinical Research Fellow in the management of high risk pregnancies both in Canada at Calgary University and in USA at Lenox Hill Hospital a major affiliate of NYU Medical Center. According to America’s Largest Circulation Magazine Modern Maturity Lenox Hill Hospital chosen Top 20 in Nation. During my fellowship program, I participated in various research activities in the area of fetal nucleated red blood cells for the prediction of perinatal outcome in both term and preterm pregnancies as well as antenatal evaluation of fetal nucleated red blood cells and placental FNA techniques. Our work was published in top journals and presented at prestigious meetings in the US.
I have passed my USMLE exams and received my ECFMG certificate on October 10, 2008.
At the present time, I am practicing OB/GYN at my private office in Çankaya, Ankara, Turkey. I am examining and treating both gynecological, menopausal and obstetrical patients in my office. Although I received extensive training in the management of high risk pregnancies in Canada and in the US, I also participated in departmental training programs to receive training in the management of gynecological and menopausal patients. Taking care of menopausal patients with diets, life style modifications in their journey is also my special interest.
I believe in zero harm to my patients. Quality of patient care is very important. I think of every patient I treat as my own family. Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing, the capacity to place oneself in another’s position. I always do empathy for my patients.
I love being an OB/GYN. Not a single day goes by that I am not reminded how lucky I am to be in this specialty. Being an OB/GYN is truly a blessing and a privilege.
Insurance plans accepted: I apply Turkish Medical Association’s fee for examinations and procedures.
